This week I made a quick wallpaper from The End. I am pretty sure I am not remotely done with arting that episode. *g* I was fiddling around with it way too much these last couple of days, so I thought I put it out in the open, because usually that's the only way to stop me from doing that. :)

Derelict: This wallpaper is a simple character piece for future!Dean from The End. I simply tried to recreate the symbolism of the show itself here. Future!Dean is cold, dark and broken and his state of mind is symbolised in the wreck of his once beloved Impala. Everything around Dean is derelict, and it's reflected in him. So, in the forefront we have the destroyed Impala in front of the destroyed world and Dean emerging from it, a violent and dark man. I chose black and white for this to emphasise the bleakness of the scenario and only kept some red at the sides as a contrast. As a sidenote: The Impala cap was a bitch to work with, as the shot was fleeting and the cap was very, very dark. I tried to enhance it as much as I dared, but obviously the image quality is sub-standard. I hope it looks okay and doesn't bring the piece down too much, but I really wanted to use that shot. *g*

Hi, yeah. I'm not feeling very chatty at the moment, so have gone into super-secret stealth mode. Looking forward to a week at home doing absolutely nothing.

Yeah, I figured as much. Thought I'd better leave you alone for a while, didn't want to go on your nerves. *hugs* Free week + laziness + kittens = ♥ I hope everything goes smoothly between Poppy and Tabby. :)

You don't get on my nerves. *hugs* It's just a funk. If it doesn't pass by itself I'll have to make it, because it's too easy to get reclusive. I'm just fed up and out of sorts and in need of a good rest.

Yeah, I know these funks. I have reclusive tendencies as it is and if I allow these funks to go on for too long it usually turns into a depression. So, distraction is the way to go. ;) *hugs*

I don't want you to feel you can't talk to me though, just because I'm in lurk-mode - I'd hate to leave you hanging. I'm just staying invisible on the open forum for now.

And on the bright side, I wrote 15 pages of fic yesterday. Because I wasn't talking to anyone. There's probably a message there about distraction, or something...

No, I know that. *hugs* It's just that I usually appreciate a bit of space when I am in that kind of mood. *g* Plus, I was pretty busy yesterday, so I didn't really have that much to talk about. LOL

YAY! See, you use your time wisely! :) I am so glad that you're in the fic writing mood again. A completely different kind of writing focus than recaps, I think that's good. I wished I would have another idea for a fic. It was quite exhilarating. *g*

LOL don't get too excited. It's only an old buffyverse story that I started re-writing about 2 years ago and have been mulling over in fits and starts ever since. It's actually close to completion now, but that doesn't mean I'll actually finish it - or that I won't then just sit on it instead of doing anything with it. It felt good to be doing something else, though. I can't even look at a recap at the moment.

Maybe inspiration will strike you again some day - and if it does, you know now that you are capable of doing something with it!

Oh heh, yeah I figured it's your Monico VS you're writing. It's amazing that you still feel enough connection to it, although the show is long over and you don't watch it that regular. Ah, I guess the BtVS marathon Chelsea forced you to go through fired up the inspiration again. *g*

Heh, this one isn't the VS, in fact. That one got to the end of Part 1 and then I stopped again. This a story I wrote set in the Wishverse from S3 - I wrote it as an exercise in script format, just to see what that was like, and have always wanted to re-write it as narrative, to really get into the heads of the characters. Since it is mostly minor characters rather than regular cast, and is set in an alternate universe, it gives me a lot of freedom to play with, instead of having to worry about getting characterisation right! And re-writing it means that most of the creative work is already done anyway, so it's a relatively easy project to take my mind off things.

The VS is much the same, actually - it's basically original fiction, having only one borrowed character. And since I skipped ahead into phase two, I've changed both the location and most of the characters, so it's like starting something completely new instead of trying to get back into something old. If that makes sense.

Anyway, it's just nice to be doing something different to clear my head.

And, um, yes - Chelsea and I must have watched about a dozen episodes of BtVS last weekend! It certainly re-aquainted me with the show *G*

Oh, okay,! Yeah, after writing reviews and analysis only for years, writing fiction for a change surely is refreshing. That's what I have art for, it's a good creative balance for the analytic stuff. I really need both to keep me happy, I can't go for extended periods of time only doing the one. :)

Thank you! :) There is no such thing as too much Dean. *g*

Yeah, I still have a couple of ideas/scenes I want to do for that episode, but sometimes I just get swept away by other ideas. I still have endless lists for the past seasons. LOL

OH WOW! That is just awesome my dear! :O Fantastic destruction imagery and coloring! soot and flame smoke is what I see after sudden destruction. I haven't been watching SPN so I'm not up on what is from the show but this tells quite a story. Once again you have wow'd me and....it's DEAN! *guh*

Thanks, hon! *hugs* It's always good to know that the story transports to the viewer even if they are not familiar with what's happening in the piece. Amazin episode, btw, if you ever get the chance to catch up on it, it's worth it. :)

The Impala came out great btw. I didn't even notice it was a cap until you mentioned it and to me it just looks like the smoke and dark clouds are reflecting on it. The edges are nice and sharp so it gives it a great wreckage feel. maybe I'll catch the re-run. I just haven't the time to watch so many shows and had to cut stuff out.

Thank you for mentioning that. I think I spent most of my time for this wallpaper on fixing that damn Impala cap. It was so dark that the car was barely visible and when I brightened it, the image quality came down so much, I wasn't sure if I could use it at all. I even considered taking a normal Impala cap and trying to artificially 'wreck' it myself. LOL

Aww you're welcome. I know your pain. dark caps can be quite challenging especially with lightening and pixelation. It's nice to have them but sure can be a pain to work with. You did good. Half the time I have to use a filter to cover stuff up which I actually hate but it works for the most part. UHQ's are the best.
I'm sure you could have done a great job in manipping a crashed one too but I think the one you did here is perfect. Blends right in. *hugs*

Thank you! :) SPN is generally such a dark show (visually, but also thematically) that caps are always a challenge to work with. I am always happy if an important scene actually plays out in the light of day and outside. LOL

ROFL well, this was already my 2nd wallpaper for that episode. *sticks tongue out* I posted the other wallpaper a week ago or so. But I still want to art the Dean/Lucifer scene if I have a good idea, too.

Heh, I really loved being at the university. I look back at it with fondness, it's been one of the best times of my life. Sure, the courses, writing thesises, exams etc were stressful, but on a personal level it was a lot of fun and freedom. I wouldn't have wanted to miss it for the world. :)
