This week I made a quick wallpaper from The End. I am pretty sure I am not remotely done with arting that episode. *g* I was fiddling around with it way too much these last couple of days, so I thought I put it out in the open, because usually that's the only way to stop me from doing that. :)

Derelict: This wallpaper is a simple character piece for future!Dean from The End. I simply tried to recreate the symbolism of the show itself here. Future!Dean is cold, dark and broken and his state of mind is symbolised in the wreck of his once beloved Impala. Everything around Dean is derelict, and it's reflected in him. So, in the forefront we have the destroyed Impala in front of the destroyed world and Dean emerging from it, a violent and dark man. I chose black and white for this to emphasise the bleakness of the scenario and only kept some red at the sides as a contrast. As a sidenote: The Impala cap was a bitch to work with, as the shot was fleeting and the cap was very, very dark. I tried to enhance it as much as I dared, but obviously the image quality is sub-standard. I hope it looks okay and doesn't bring the piece down too much, but I really wanted to use that shot. *g*

Heh, this one isn't the VS, in fact. That one got to the end of Part 1 and then I stopped again. This a story I wrote set in the Wishverse from S3 - I wrote it as an exercise in script format, just to see what that was like, and have always wanted to re-write it as narrative, to really get into the heads of the characters. Since it is mostly minor characters rather than regular cast, and is set in an alternate universe, it gives me a lot of freedom to play with, instead of having to worry about getting characterisation right! And re-writing it means that most of the creative work is already done anyway, so it's a relatively easy project to take my mind off things.

The VS is much the same, actually - it's basically original fiction, having only one borrowed character. And since I skipped ahead into phase two, I've changed both the location and most of the characters, so it's like starting something completely new instead of trying to get back into something old. If that makes sense.

Anyway, it's just nice to be doing something different to clear my head.

And, um, yes - Chelsea and I must have watched about a dozen episodes of BtVS last weekend! It certainly re-aquainted me with the show *G*

Oh, okay,! Yeah, after writing reviews and analysis only for years, writing fiction for a change surely is refreshing. That's what I have art for, it's a good creative balance for the analytic stuff. I really need both to keep me happy, I can't go for extended periods of time only doing the one. :)
