This week I made a quick wallpaper from The End. I am pretty sure I am not remotely done with arting that episode. *g* I was fiddling around with it way too much these last couple of days, so I thought I put it out in the open, because usually that's the only way to stop me from doing that. :)

Derelict: This wallpaper is a simple character piece for future!Dean from The End. I simply tried to recreate the symbolism of the show itself here. Future!Dean is cold, dark and broken and his state of mind is symbolised in the wreck of his once beloved Impala. Everything around Dean is derelict, and it's reflected in him. So, in the forefront we have the destroyed Impala in front of the destroyed world and Dean emerging from it, a violent and dark man. I chose black and white for this to emphasise the bleakness of the scenario and only kept some red at the sides as a contrast. As a sidenote: The Impala cap was a bitch to work with, as the shot was fleeting and the cap was very, very dark. I tried to enhance it as much as I dared, but obviously the image quality is sub-standard. I hope it looks okay and doesn't bring the piece down too much, but I really wanted to use that shot. *g*

OH WOW! That is just awesome my dear! :O Fantastic destruction imagery and coloring! soot and flame smoke is what I see after sudden destruction. I haven't been watching SPN so I'm not up on what is from the show but this tells quite a story. Once again you have wow'd me and....it's DEAN! *guh*

Thanks, hon! *hugs* It's always good to know that the story transports to the viewer even if they are not familiar with what's happening in the piece. Amazin episode, btw, if you ever get the chance to catch up on it, it's worth it. :)

The Impala came out great btw. I didn't even notice it was a cap until you mentioned it and to me it just looks like the smoke and dark clouds are reflecting on it. The edges are nice and sharp so it gives it a great wreckage feel. maybe I'll catch the re-run. I just haven't the time to watch so many shows and had to cut stuff out.

Thank you for mentioning that. I think I spent most of my time for this wallpaper on fixing that damn Impala cap. It was so dark that the car was barely visible and when I brightened it, the image quality came down so much, I wasn't sure if I could use it at all. I even considered taking a normal Impala cap and trying to artificially 'wreck' it myself. LOL

Aww you're welcome. I know your pain. dark caps can be quite challenging especially with lightening and pixelation. It's nice to have them but sure can be a pain to work with. You did good. Half the time I have to use a filter to cover stuff up which I actually hate but it works for the most part. UHQ's are the best.
I'm sure you could have done a great job in manipping a crashed one too but I think the one you did here is perfect. Blends right in. *hugs*

Thank you! :) SPN is generally such a dark show (visually, but also thematically) that caps are always a challenge to work with. I am always happy if an important scene actually plays out in the light of day and outside. LOL
