Some personal notes and a wallpaper

I know I have been MIA these last few weeks and some of you may wonder if they will ever get to read my episode reviews for Two Minutes To Midnight and Swan Song or if they will ever get to see the result of their fanart requests – or any new fanart from me for that matter. Now, here’s the thing: After the S5 finale I really needed a break from the intense focus on Supernatural and so I threw myself into non-fandom related activities for a while. Then, just when I was ready to resume writing/arting about SPN, I was unexectedly offered a new job, and I decided to take it, mainly for financial reasons. As some of you know, I have been working part-time these last couple of years, which obviously left me plenty of time to pursue my fandom activities and spend days on long-winded episode reviews or wallpapers.

My new job, however, is a full-time employment and at the moment I am not only overwhelmed by the amount of new content I have to learn, but also by the immense changes in my personal time management. So, that’s why there has been so little activity at my journal lately. I hope that I will get into a routine at my new job fast enough to at least finish my outstanding reviews and some art during the hiatus, but most importantly I hope that I will be able to keep up my reviews when S6 starts to air. At the moment I am not sure I will manage that though – at least not in that much detail. Only time will tell, I guess.

Just before all hell broke loose in my life, I managed to finish one wallpaper, so I thought I at least post that one as a consolation. :)



Fireworks: So, this is obviously a very simple episodic wallpaper for the wonderful fireworks scene in Dark Side Of The Moon. This is one of those pieces that started out with half a dozen of images to capture the mood of the scene, but then I gradually removed most of them again, because in the end the main image of Sam and Dean hugging set all the mood I needed and everything else was only distracting from it. I hope you all like it. :)

Happy new job, hon...as frustrating as it is that it means I never get to see you (although the fact that I'm never around myself at the moment also plays a part in that - we really must arrange a proper chat some time soon!)

Starting a new job is overwhelming, no? So much to learn and adjust to. I hope you'll soon feel settled in and comfortable, and get yourself into a new routine that works for you and your interests.

Yeah, we're both pretty wrapped up in RL at the moment. Feels like we didn't have time to talk in forever. We should plan a chat session soon. I mean, this weekend I have already plans to visit my best friend, but next weekend I should be free for a chat. Either on Friday evening, after work, or Saturday/Sunday. :)

Yes, it's quite overwhelming, especially since I have next to no prior experience in that area of work, so there is quite a lot of new information to process. The heat isn't helping either, it completely muddles my brain. LOL I am beat in the evenings at the moment. I am sure I'll settle into a routine sooner or later, but it's hard in the beginning.

You must be so tired at the moment - settling into a new job always has that effect, even when it isn't a switch from part time to full time that completely throws your entire routine off track. I hope you'll feel more settled soon :)

I really, really am. Luckily I have one day a week (at the moment 2-3 days because my boss is on vacation) where I am still in my part-time job, which gives me a bit of a reprieve. I am really glad my new employer and I came to a compromise that allows me to keep my other job as well. But it's still a huge change. LOL

The preparations are going well - more or less. I got the documents necessary for the visa only yesterday, but I already booked my plane ticket for August 12 so I'm worried I won't have the visa on time. The university of Long Beach is asking for more documents and I have some troubles gathering what I need.

But, well, at least there's progress!

Aww, no it's by no means your fault, hon. *hugs* Thing is, in my new office I have no private internet access, so it's not even possible for me to come into the VIP during the day and have a chat or write a PM on the side. I've been meaning to write you for a while now to see how your move goes and if you and your husband have finally found a house/flat near your husbands workplace! :)

Well the last 6 weeks have been a very emotional and exhausting time so I haven't had any interest to spend any time on the internet. I keep meaning to make an LJ post but I can't seem to find the words when I try to type.

I'm sorry about the no internet. Though it's probably better than being in a space where someone could bust you and get reprimanded. :D I know how it goes so I feel your pain and frustration. *hugs*

Jump drives and Notepad and Word are my best friends or I'd literally never speak to anyone on the internet. Oh and copy and paste. For example, I should be typing a work document but instead type a sentence of spam and then copy and paste it into the VIP. LOL, I was devoted.

Anyway, you'll find a way to squeeze time into your days sooner or later. You're doing two jobs and trying to get comfortable. It's really good you can make the money after such lean years.

Yeah, I can imagine that the last few weeks have been very stressing for you - there is so much change happening for you at the moment, too. It must be overwhelming. *hugs* I know that you have been looking forward for things to change for a while now, but still, once the moment is there, it's frightening as well. :)

LOL yeah, you're right, it's probably better that I have no internet access. I would only be distracted - Sam and Dean have the habit to just occupy my brain completely, once I start thinking about them - and that's not a good thing in a new job. *g*

Thanks! Yeah, I am so used to structure my day around my own needs and have all the time in the world for my interests that I feel a tad restricted at the moment. I just need to find a new balance I guess.

I really want to continue my reviews. I love writing them. I might need to limit myself a bit though, maybe only write about the aspects of an episode that interest me the most. We'll see. :)

Good to see you back hon! *hugs* Congrats on the new job! :) In today's economy, to be offered a full time job is great news and the extra money is a plus. I'm sure once you get into the swing of things it will all be second nature and you'll find more time to enjoy your creativity and interests. I had to step away from it all as well and have spent more time with hubby, family, friends and other interests. Sometimes you need a break. :) It is great to see you again.

The latest wallie is wonderful! Of course I didn't get to see the epy but I get a warm feeling from it and perhaps one of these days I'll get to see it. In the meantime, my mind is making up it's own story by what I see. I love those brotherly moments. I like to toss the demons aside and get to the heart of their relationship! I love it! The fireworks and coloring is perfect.

Aww thank you! :) It's a really beautiful scene - one of my favourite brotherly moments in the show. Just for the context: In that scene adult Dean relives a happy childhood memory in which he and young Sammy celebrate the 4th of July together, fireworks and all. ♥ It's a very dark scene and I wasn't sure I'll manage to get it on canvas, so I am happy it worked out okay. :)
