New arts-y things

I have two new arts, centered around Sam this time. After two seasons in which I had to remind myself constantly to not forget to art Sam from time to time, since I was so focused on Dean, this season gives me a lot of good arting ideas for his character! Enjoy! ♥
Temptation: This wallpaper is obviously about Ruby as a tempting Eve for Sam, trying to seduce him step by step over to the dark side, whispering lies to him (snake) and using Dean's deal as bait (the poisoned apple). I am immensely proud of the Ruby manip, 'cause it's one of the most complex ones I've ever tried! I wanted the contrast between her innocent appearance (the white dress, the light surrounding her) and the regalia of wickedness and evil (apple and snake). Sam looks skeptical but already finds himself caught in her world, without realising it. All in all this wallpaper came out a bit different than intended, but I think it worked out well.

The Memory Remains: I loved this scene in Bad Day At Black Rock where Sam finds out that John kept his old soccer trophy, despite the many fights they had over Sam's wish for normalcy. I wanted to show how their relationship was pretty much lithified, both of them unmoving in their position and with John withdrawn, unable to communicate with his son. The stonewall between them is separating and connecting them at the same time. I went for a very grungy look, since their relationship was rough and patchy, but finding that trophy is a bright reminder of John's love for Sam nonetheless. I am not all happy with this, but I worked too long on it to just dump it LOL.

Sam is definitely more interesting this season than he's ever been.

Date: 2007-11-05 07:28 pm (UTC)ROFL yeah at the moment I have more Sam ideas than Dean ones, but well, since the poor guy was neglected anyways, I am happy to art him for a while. :)
I am not all that happy about the Trophy wall, since I had to make it all so small, because the images didn't take gradients and stocks very well *sigh* but I had the perfect text, so I decided to keep it in the end LOL.

Date: 2007-11-06 04:10 pm (UTC)Heh, I get so many requests for tutorials lately. If you make a proper step by step tutorial with explanations, it just really takes a lot of time (especially for something like this, that took me roughly 10-12 hours to make) that I rather spend arting, plus I am not really good with them. It's not that I do something totally different from other artists. But well, one of these days I am trying to sit down and make tutorial for one of my more complex walls and put it on my website, to show how I work in general.

Date: 2007-11-06 05:29 pm (UTC)30 mins?! I need at least two times that amount to alone pick my images LOL. I spent one day alone to find a manipulation base for 'Temptation' for example. I don't think I could even manage a simple blend with texture and gradients in 30 mins, even if I already had the images ready. *lol* I am just slow. *shrugs*
The more time extensive walls I don't make in one day either. On 'Temptation' I worked nearly 4 days, if I count in the time to find all the images I needed.
