First S3 art .. YAY?

So today I made my first season three wallpaper. It's really basic, due to some difficulties I encountered and initially I planned on keeping it for my own private desktop entertainment only, but then I thought, heck, why not post it anyways. *shrugs*


Normally I'd say 'The Magnificent Seven' isn't exactly the episode that fires up my muse, but sometimes it's funny how one can become utterly obsessed with mere 30 seconds of an episode, isn't it? In 'The Magnificent Seven' there's this short moment where Sam and Dean share a silent look with each other, that just floored me with its intensity and I really, really needed to make a wallpaper from that scene.

Of course, as it is with these things that are important to you, Murphy's law hit me full force: I wanted something very rich and warm in colouring, but my orginial draft went to waste because I couldn't find a cap of Dean that had a high enough quality to take all the lighting and colouring I needed to throw on it. *sigh* So I had to size the caps considerably down and ended up with something simple and completely different from what I had planned. The Dean cap is still the weak point, but I touched it up to the best of my abilities, at least the colouring came out as I wanted it to.

Sorry for the rambling but I was really frustrated! *lol* I should stop working with caps and only use promos! ;)

Working from avi caps is always a limitation, isn't it? Roll on the DVDs!!

LOL it really is. Although Rosely and others capped from a HQ file: if you look closely at the Sam cap, it doesn't have that limitation, it is sharp and smooth, despite all the gradients I worked on it, only the sequence with Dean caps had considerably lower quality although it's from the same file. /sigh

Anyways, thanks! I am somehow totally obsessed with that 30 seconds LOL.

Well, it's good to know that even weaker episodes have moments to obsess over. I enjoy this one more each time I watch it, though. This recap has turned out to be the longest ever!

I'll be up tomorrow. I have to make myself stop editing now - I've hit 32 pages! *eek* This is a really strong argument in favour of never adding any new recurring characters - the more people there are, the more interactions and motivations I have to talk about...*G*

Well they very different from avi files... but darker scenes are always more difficult then lighter scenes.

LOL I downloaded caps from a couple of sources .. I am not quite sure which I ended up using LOL .. it had nothing to do with your caps .. on EVERY cap site this particular row of Dean caps had lower quality than the rest .. probably because Dean wasn't lit as well as Sam.

That scene is by far my most favorite in TMS, other than the whole brotherly moment in the end and the Impala speeding off. So, I'll snag it and will most definitely use for the future. ^^

Aww thanks, hon! *hugs* Heh, I decided to post it because of the colouring which came out wonderfully I think. I dunno why I was so reluctant, probably because it is so simple, y'know, but as we discussed, sometimes scenes don't necessarily call for extra heavy symbolism! ;)

I thought both boys looked younger in this episode, than at the end of S2 LOL. And yeah, Dean looks totally drool-worthy, even low cap quality can't change that! ;)

OMG, I know what you mean about that moment...I'm not artistic at all, and trying to make a header from that scene? It's, well...not going so hot. =P But it's just such a great moment...
