So, my life is still crazy at the moment and art kinda has to take a backseat. But I finished a wallpaper a couple of weeks ago that I didn’t post yet and worked on another one, bit by bit, over the last week and I think it’s finally ready to show its face in public too. *g* Enjoy, since it is probably my last art post for this year!
Dreamer: Okay, so people who know me will ask: Who are you and what have you done with Chris, because pink?!? I am known for hating that colour, but in the end that was what worked best with the theme and the different elements in the wall, so please bear with me. *g* Mary has always been a favourite character of mine, even if we didn't get to know much about her in the beginning of the series. In this wallpaper, I wanted to focus on Mary before the YED turned her life to ashes, the hopeful and kind spirited young woman, with dreams of a world beyond hunting. Mary feels trapped, she is on the inside, looking out, longing for the illusion of peace, safety and innocence of the 'normal' world. She knows what’s out there and still (or maybe just because) she preserved dreams of romance and happily ever after, the very things she sees in John.
As for the manip: Originally Mary should have been looking out of the window, but none of the few caps where she looks up and to the side worked for the manip, so we just have to pretend that she is about to look up. :) Despite the warm colours, I chose a winter landscape for the outside, because I associate quiet and peace with snow. What else? Meta suggests that Mary is connected to a rose-theme in the show, hence the rose in my wall. The charm obviously isn’t the protection bracelet Mary wears in the show, but a simple silver charm, one she would probably wear if she was a 'normal' girl.
So, I hope this is not too girly and cheesy for you all! *g* Well, and if it is, just skip it! Oh, and I know that technically this is a piece about Mary Campbell, but well, I love the name Winchester. And I stop with the ramble right now … uhm, sorry!

Crisis Of Faith: This wallpaper is about Sam's crisis of faith after meeting Castiel and Uriel in It’s The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester. The angels' order to smite a whole town as a preventive measure throws him and evokes doubts about his own beliefs and his possibility for salvation. Sam is sourrounded by peaceful symbols of faith (angel statue, dove) in my piece, but from the right the radical angel Uriel smites right through these symbols, showing how his merciless attitude crashes Sam's beliefs. I positioned Castiel to the left, his pensive expression mirrors Sam's. The angel is willing to obey and destroy the town, but he is burdened by doubts and questions himself, which puts him apart from Uriel.

Date: 2008-12-20 03:35 pm (UTC)Those are jaw dropping gorgeous!!!!!!!!! I really like the pink one with Wee! Mary :D. I could stare at that for hours! "Crisis of faith" is beautiful and I love that you chose to do that particular scene with Sam. Love the way you made what looks like electricity coming out of the angels hand with the word on top "smite". Excellent work as always! I will be using the Mary one!

Date: 2008-12-20 06:30 pm (UTC)Nah, I didn't look for it, but when I was thinking about Mary related images, I recalled our discussion about the rose-theme meta and so the rose ended up in the wall. *g*

I'm sorry to hear that you have no time for art and that we probably won't get any new art until the end of this year:( It always cheers me up when you share sth with us^ and sorry that then we probably won't get any tut of you,but I understand that RL is just crazy.I should study, but I can't concentrate, because we're planning trip to the con in Asylum^^
Anyways hope you get better Chris*hugs*

Date: 2008-12-20 11:07 pm (UTC)Actually I started writing the first paragraphs of a tutorial. Maybe I'll start to post it step by step, instead of waiting until I got it all finished. Since I start with base thoughts about composition, image choice etc. it'll take a while until I get to the part where we will actually open PS. LOL

Date: 2008-12-20 11:34 pm (UTC)Oh CHris,I didn't expect you to already work on it,especially when you're so busy. Thanks it means a lot to me that someone like you - such a wiz in ps - spend his time with makin' tut for others*warm hug* I'm letting it all on you,if you wanna post it step by step or all in one:) I can wait, tho I really didn't mean to make some pressure sweetie^ You really are awesome!:-*

Date: 2008-12-20 11:44 pm (UTC)I am not pressured at all. I wanted to do this for my site for a while now and it's good to be motivated. It's all just a matter of time. I am really no wiz in PS, I know people who know the program itself a lot better than me. I just know enough to work around the stuff I don't know. *lol*

Date: 2008-12-21 08:55 am (UTC)Glad to hear you don't feel pressured:) and that you wanted to do that anyway. You know they might have better technical knowledge in ps,but for making so gorgeous walls like you do is needed some sense for art, compositions, colours etc.Just like real artist:) That you don't know whole ps from start to beginning is totally understandable for me,lol. At least you know well tools you work with and from my angle of view,it's enough:P

Date: 2008-12-21 09:19 am (UTC)Aww thank you! Yeah, true, there are some things in fanart that you cannot learn so much as they are artistic skills like a sense for composition or perspective or colour harmony. I am always frustrated about people who think that digital art is no real art and that only drawn and painted art is valuable. The work on a digital canvas can be as complex as the one on a real canvas and it requires a lot of similar skills.

Date: 2008-12-21 09:48 am (UTC)You're the most welcome:)I agree that it requires a lot of skills,I see that myself every day when I can't figure sth out,LOL.It's art the same way as painted one, because you still have to play with colours, compositions, textures, levels and I don't know what else.^And I can say that it's really not easy to get something I'd be satisfied with, but on the other side you make a brilliant job with your art:) I wonder how long have you been working&learning in ps?^^
PS I noticed that in my previous post I wrote from start to beginning,ROFL.SO just make it clear I meant from start to end,LOL.But I know you got it^

Date: 2008-12-21 10:30 am (UTC)Yes,tutorials are great to learn something, but I can't find any where I'd learn anything new.^I mean most of them are just few steps, mostly how they made some icon. It's of course good thing and I learned from these tuts a lot,but now I'm in dead point and don't knwo what to do anymore:)
Wow,so you worked yourself out perfectly^ I have to say I love a lot even your old art.
Totally off,but I was wonderin if you saw any new movie with boys? Like ten inch hero or new your minutes(or sth like that, lol) or any horror movie with them?As you usually have the smart opinions and I mostly agree with you,I was just wondering about it and if you saw some,if you liked them ^^

The only recent movie with the boys that I saw was TIH. I liked it, but I was very annoyed with the ending. It's a bit difficult to discuss here, if you find out how to open your privacy settings we could talk about that via message. :)

Date: 2008-12-21 11:08 am (UTC)I've heard that TIH was good.I didn't watch that myself, tho because I didn't find any place to download it(except torrents). And I also heard that ending was kinda crappy*nods*
Heh,I'd like to open my privacy settings,I tried to find some place where I could change it,but there wasn't anything. But on the bright side when you're one of my friends now,I think that it should be alright*wink* other friends send me pms succesfully^

Date: 2008-12-20 10:42 pm (UTC)Crisis Of Faith, I really love the concept! I figured you would make art to that after I seen the episode, and I love the way you put it together. It's so simple but it has such meaning to it with all of it's elements it's really great.

Date: 2008-12-20 11:12 pm (UTC)I want to art more from 4.07, I just need to figure out how! LOL
