Status Report

Hi all! I know I have been MIA these last couple of weeks, and I wanted to apologise for the lack of activity at my journal during this summer. I had many fandom related plans for the hiatus, but unfortunately my finale fuelled energy and motivation died a violent death after ComicCon and all my attempts at resurrecting it, just failed miserably. Now, to comfort myself, I decided to watch a couple of episodes of that other show that revolves around two entirely co-dependent characters who are fiercely protective of each other, aka The X-Files. And what do you know? A couple of episodes somehow turned into 120 episodes (and counting) and the first movie. I never expected to become so immersed in the show again, but it provided a good distraction for my Supernatural woes. Of course, watching the bonus material on my DVDs and seeing all those interviews and commentaries with Kim Manners makes me really nostalgic and just reminds me how much I miss him on Supernatural.

For the first summer, I'm virtually spoiler free. I don't know why I chose to be or how I managed to do it. So I feel very excited for the season. I'm sorry the spoilers got you down. *hugs*

One heck of a rewatch of 120 eps in 2 months! *slowclap* Sounds like good times!

I envy you greatly. I really wished I had stayed spoiler-free this summer as well, so I had been able to write and make art.

It really was. LOL I am in S6 now and I think I'll manage to get to the end of S7 before Supernatural (and all the other shows) come back. There's nothing like re-discovering a past TV love. I just hope that 10 years after Supernatural finished, it will be just as much fun re-discovering it as it is with the X-Files. :)

Away that bad huh? Doesn't sound like "season gr8" then? I have never seen the X-files really, but I'll put it on my long list I suppose!

Who knows? Could be that all those spoilers were out of context and gave a completely false impression - then I have worried these last 2 months over nothing. It doesn't sound good, but it could all be a misdirection. We'll see. :)

Heh, 9 seasons is quite a lot to get through. I adore the show; Scully is one of my favourite female characters of all time and I am a hardcore Scully/Mulder shipper. LOL The show has a lot of similarities with Supernatural - just exchange the angels & demons mythology with an aliens & government conspiracies mythology - especially in the focus on one central relationship that becomes unhealthily codependent over time. Just like SN, XF struggles quite a bit in the later seasons, since Carter thought the show would come to an end after S5, but the network wanted more because the show had become so popular. Unfortunately the lack of direction and focus shows in the later seasons, but there is still great stuff in there.
