So I absolutely no longer need to write up my thoughts about 9x01 because you basically did it for me. Seriously, this is a little bit freaky actually. ;)
I'm on the fence about where this season can go. Not only are there a lot of warning bells going off in terms of the potential pitfalls of taking the Ezekiel-Sam-Dean storyline to where it *could* go, but I'm leery about putting angels front and center in terms of Big Bads this season and mytharc continuity/SPN's established universal "rules" (I'd like to protect my suspension of disbelief so I can enjoy the show instead of nitpick every single detail vs. me just thinking about the narrative/characterization right now). However, I'm seeing the potential and the lip service Carver is currently giving sounds interesting. It all boils down to EXECUTION for me. I'm leery about HOW this is all going to be pulled off because for me it's all in the details and maneuvering the characters in such a way that their actions seem logical, consistent, earned, and emotionally relevant to the story at hand while address past events/revelations. We've seen in the past where the story or the idea of a character made sense on paper, but when it came to actually putting that character and their story on the screen it fell disastrously flat (Bela, Amelia). Furthermore, unlike Kripke (ex. Jo Harvelle), Carver's ability to RECOGNIZE a train wreck in progress and CHANGE things in a seamless way is definitely not proven (the first 10 episodes of last season). And I don't even know what Singer has been doing this whole time. So, I'm torn. I want badly to invest (OK, I am really but I'd like to be all supersonic fangirl again), but I'm gun shy, which results in me hovering around the fringes pontificating by myself and getting all upset.
I agree with the casting of TP. I ADORED HELO!!!!!!!!!!! He was my favorite character on BSG. In fact, when I saw him I thought immediately that he needs to somehow be on SPN because 3 tall, lovely, devoted, brave characters should share a story together. If TP shows up again (likely after the midseason break) I'll be ecstatic.
