SN fanvideo recommendations - Part III
May. 26th, 2007 12:02 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Okay, so here's my third post with video recommendations. As a warning, I was in a sappy mood for the brotherly love and dug out some mostly older, highly emotional videos this time, but also some fun and action to round it up nicely.
I still have some musicvideos and also some funvideos that I would want to rec, but I need some time to find out if they still exist. So there will probably a 4th post at some time, but I am not sure when exactly I'll manage to put it together. 'Til then, I hope you'll find something enjoyable in this post.

“If I could tear you from the ceiling, I’d freeze us both in time” (Placebo)
Dean PoV; This was one of my favourite S1 videos about the brotherly love for a very long time. It’s about Dean as the best big brother in the world, he has been hurt by Sam, he is afraid to be left alone again and still he would want to do anything to spare his little brother pain. As a huge Placebo fan, the song choice alone would have intrigued me, but the vidder really created lovely images around the lyrics and especially the 3rd paragraph (around 2:30) makes me weep. The editing is beautifully done and the few effects are utilized very well. The vidder added a really extensive meta about her video at the end of the post, so there is nothing really left for me to say *lol*

“So, maybe you can walk with me a while” (Dierks Bently)
Dean PoV; This is a very slow paced video about Sam and Dean’s journey together, about the secrets and burdens Dean has to carry but how he doesn’t really care as long as Sam is at his side. The clip quality is sometimes lacking in this vid and the flow isn’t always spot on, but it had a huge emotional impact on me. Sometimes it’s certain lines in a song that deeply touch me and comprise a certain aspect of the brotherly relationship so well for me, that it is enough to fall in love with a vid. In this case it was “So maybe you can walk with me a while and maybe I can rest beneath your smile” that really got to me and together with the images the vidder provides for that line it makes me go all AWWWWW ♥

“Home is a feeling I buried in you” (Melissa Etheridge)
Dean PoV; Dean tries to hide his vulnerability but it always shines through, especially when it comes to Sam and John. This is another one of those vids where one line in the lyrics and the way the vidder edited the clips to it made me fall in love with the vid (see quote), but this video is also well edited and has a great emotional flow as a whole. The clip/lyrics matching is very well done here, the pacing is nice and some of the transitions are epecially beautiful.

“And even though you're gone, you still mean the world to me.” (Alterbridge)
Dean PoV; This video comes with a serious tissue warning, just sayin'! *g* It’s about Dean at the end of AHBL Pt I, mourning Mary, John and Sam, remembering them and contemplating how much his family meant to him. Some of the clips have a lower quality than I am used to from this vidder and in a few instances the clips not necessarily match all that well, but this vid pushes all my emo!buttons. There are some lovely overlays in this video and it has some clever editing. Really enjoyable vid if you are in the mood for some bittersweet pain.

“I was born in a summer storm, I live there still” (Tom McRae)
John POV; This is a very short and quiet video about John, a reflective inner monologue while he is about to sacrifice himself for his son. The song creates a very intensive and intimate atmosphere, there are some beautiful lines in the lyrics and the vidder finds wonderful images for it. The editing is simple, but effective, the vidder just trusts in the music to carry the sentiment and it works!

“I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter” (The Prodigy)
YED POV; And one for the action! *g* This vid is a fast-paced action-packed video about the Winchesters and the Yellow Eyed Demon. The clips are extremely well edited in sync to the upbeat of the music, naturally the vid features lots of shooting, explosions, fighting and it has a good flow. The vidder utilizes flashes very well and works with fading into and out from black to follow the different changes in the pace of the music. One of my favourite action vids and though the song choice is far from my usual taste, it really works well with the theme of the video.

“You better grab my jack and zip a gun for me” (Royal Crown Review)
Fun, fun, fun! This is a gorgeous constructed reality video in which Sam and Dean are notorious bank robbers that break out from prison, plan a bank heist and try to escape, the cops hard on their heels. This is beautifully done, music 50s style, the clips are muted down with a sepia filter and the whole pacing and editing of the vid is just lovely. AU vids are usually the most difficult ones, but the vidder really pulls it off, much to the enjoyment of the viewer! Go and watch *g*
